May is one of the best months to enjoy life in Lancaster, Morecambe and the surrounding villages. Longer evenings, Bank Holiday weekends, village festivals, live music, food events and family days out all make it a standout month in the local calendar.
If you’re wondering what’s on this May, or simply reminding yourself why this part of Lancashire is such a great place to live, here’s our full May edition covering events, food, music, family activities and local highlights.
1–3 May | Lancaster Brewery
A popular start to the month, the Lancaster Whisky Festival returns with tastings, talks and plenty of atmosphere at Lancaster Brewery. It’s a great way to kick off the Bank Holiday weekend and a brilliant indoor option if the weather takes a turn [stayhappening.com]

May is peak season here. The park is in full bloom, the café terraces are busy, and the Butterfly House is a great option if the weather isn’t perfect.
With play areas, splash park, gardens and café stops, this is one of the best free family spaces on the coast – and it’s particularly lively during Vintage Bus Day and Bank Holiday weekends.

May is when local beer gardens, courtyards and outdoor seating really start to take off. Some favourites locals always gravitate towards include:
Add in the new food festivals and pop-ups this month, and it’s one of the best times of year for eating and socialising locally.
This is the month where Lancaster, Morecambe and the surrounding villages really show their best side. You can go from a city-centre gig one night to a village green festival the next, then finish the weekend on the promenade or in the countryside – all within a short drive.
It’s exactly this mix of lifestyle, community and choice that continues to attract people to live here year after year.
If you’re considering moving home, upsizing, downsizing or relocating within the area, now is a great time to plan ahead. Spring and early summer traditionally bring more choice to the market – and the best homes often attract interest quickly.
