Nestled in the picturesque Lancashire countryside, The Fleece Inn at Dolphinholme has achieved a remarkable feat by winning The Countryside Alliance “Best Pub Award” for the North of England. This charming establishment stands out as the only pub in Lancashire to receive this prestigious accolade, a testament to its exceptional service and community spirit.

Director Simeon and his dedicated 25-strong team were pleasantly surprised by the award, as they remain unaware of who nominated them. Their loyal patrons, some of whom travel from Pendle every Sunday, are a testament to the pub’s warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff, all local to the area, have been with The Fleece Inn since its transformation a decade ago, further highlighting the strong sense of community.

The Fleece Inn is more than just a pub; it is a cornerstone of the local community. With nine rooms, a self-contained apartment, and the village shop, it provides essential services to residents. The shop offers local produce, newspapers, and other necessities, ensuring that the pub is truly at the heart of Dolphinholme.

Simeon and his team are committed to sustainability, with electric car charging points and a biomass boiler for heating and hot water. Their dedication to local produce is evident in their menu, featuring Dewlay cheeses, wine from D Byrne in Clitheroe, and meat from Honeywells in Woodplumpton.

As they prepare for the national awards ceremony at the House of Lords in June, Simeon attributes their success to the team’s hard work and the unwavering support of their patrons. The Fleece Inn’s community-centred approach and commitment to quality make it a shining example of hospitality in Lancashire.
