Community Matters
- The 1st–7th June is National Volunteers’ Week across the UK. It is estimated that over half of all those aged 16+ in England and Wales have volunteered at least once in the past 12 months, around one in three volunteering at least once per month.
- Wanting to improve things and help people, meeting people and making friends, and supporting the local community are all key motivators for volunteering. Volunteering is also connected to improved mental health and wellbeing.
- A sense of community and neighbourliness are important considerations for both home buyers and renters, three in every four home buyers stating a sense of community is important when searching for a home.
- Two-thirds of renters consider the local community an important feature when searching for a property to rent, while more than 1 in 5 would like to receive local community information.
