Morecambe Bay Welcomes Walkers and Cyclists

Morecambe Bay businesses are rolling out the red carpet for walkers and cyclists this summer, offering essential kits to enhance their outdoor adventures. As part of the ‘Ways Around The Bay’ initiative, local businesses are providing bike tyre pumps, repair tools, Ordnance Survey maps, walk books, and even muddy boot trays and scrapers for their guests. This thoughtful gesture aims to attract more visitors and boost local businesses by tapping into the thriving market of outdoor enthusiasts.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Morecambe Bay Partnership, is designed to make the Bay area more accessible and enjoyable for those exploring its picturesque landscapes. By equipping visitors with the necessary tools and resources, businesses hope to enhance the overall experience, encouraging more people to explore the beautiful coastline, countryside, and charming towns and villages around the Bay.

The impact of these welcome kits is already being felt. Jean, a cyclist from Grange, expressed her gratitude: “A huge thank you! As a cyclist who regularly stops at Levens Village Shop, I was surprised and delighted to see the two boxes of tools, first aid kit, maps, and books provided by MBP. Everyone in our cycling group was impressed by the generous and thoughtful boxes. We all hope they will be used and not abused! Thank you!”

To further promote this welcoming initiative, participating businesses are featured on the ‘Ways Around The Bay’ website. This platform offers a wealth of information, including favourite routes and a journey planner, allowing visitors to design their own walking or cycling adventures.

Whether you’re a local or a visitor, Morecambe Bay is ready to welcome you with open arms and all the tools you need for a memorable outdoor experience. Plan your next adventure at Ways Around The Bay
