Lancashire is buzzing with excitement this summer, as Lancashire County Council unveils a delightful array of family-friendly activities designed to keep everyone entertained. With 29 family hubs and a plethora of events across 64 public libraries, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
The family hubs are a hive of activity, offering play sessions, reading groups, family support, and festival days. These hubs are a fantastic resource, providing support, advice, and information to parents, carers, and families. The Mini Move and Groove sessions at the Skelmersdale Family Hub are a particular highlight, offering children an hour and a half of summer fun every Monday. Parents rave about the sessions, with activities ranging from painting and playing to singing and biking. It’s a wonderful opportunity for children to explore and enjoy themselves in a safe, supportive environment.
For older kids, the YouthZone offers groups and support tailored to teens and young people. Meanwhile, the council’s museums, such as Queen Street Mill in Briercliffe and Judges’ Lodgings in Lancaster, provide budget-friendly options for a day out. These museums offer fascinating activities and events that are both educational and entertaining.
Libraries across Lancashire are also hosting a variety of events, from reading trail drop-ins to Lego clubs and arts and crafts sessions. These activities are perfect for keeping young minds engaged and inspired over the summer holidays.
Councillor Simon Evans, cabinet member for Children and Families, encourages families to explore the wealth of activities available on their doorstep. With such a diverse range of options, Lancashire promises a summer full of fun, learning, and adventure for families.
